I would have been much happier with a matte finish. Plenty of expansion ports (for a laptop).Ĭons: First, the gloss finish on the laptop makes it look nice, but it is slippery. Pros: Long battery life with a Samsung 840 SSD.(4-6 hours YMMV) The USB 3.0 port is on the motherboard.ĭo not enable Pci Lock from msconfig/set usefirmwarepcisettings to yes on Windows-based OSes, as this will cause both GPUs to malfunction driver-wise (Windows won't load the drivers). USB 2.0 ports are on their own board and connected to the motherboard via ribbon cable.
There is no driver for the dGPU (7670M) under Windows XP 圆4. The dGPU (7670M) is dedicated to rendering. The iGPU (7660G) is the primary adapter, and is the one driving the display. The dual graphics setup is muxless (no hardware mux). The 7660G iGPU is ARUBA, and the 7670M dGPU is TURKS. When disassembling, the top half comes off first (black touchpad area, then Keyboard), then you remove 2-3 screws to remove the motherboard. Under Linux (at least with Ubuntu), Bluetooth will always be enabled on boot (if you turn it off and reboot, it'll be enabled again). Don't feel you "have" to do this though, as temperatures under normal use are fine. Overall Review: The included Windows 8 key is for Core (not Professional).Īfter a bit of cleanup of the old thermal paste and a re-apply of a small amount of Arctic Silver 5, temps were a good deal better. Touchpad physical click buttons can have difficulty registering clicks when pressed on the outter-edge. No keyboard status LEDs (Caps, Num, and Scroll Lock).ĭuring high CPU load, the touchpad can become erratic (not work) randomly. UEFI installation of Windows 7 isn't possible (locks up on boot animation). The keyboard has ghosting with certain keys (noticeable with the Arrow keys).Īccessing the processor requires complete laptop disassemble. The charger port can take some abuse (had a few incidents where people tripped over the cord).Ĭons: The thermal paste was applied excessively on the APU and dGPU on my laptop. Pros: The APU is user-serviceable (can be taken out and replaced).
